Plants 3000 trees
5 June 2009
Tata AutoComp Systems Limited (Tata AutoComp)
planted over 3000 saplings on the occasion of World Environment
Day. The initiative is in continuation of Tata AutoComp's move towards
protecting the environment and combatting Global Warming. The company
has so far already planted over 2000 trees during the current financial
year. Tata AutoComp has taken several concrete measures towards
sustainable future and has imbibed the agenda in the company's mission-
'Create a carbon neutral footprint'.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. R S Thakur,
Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Tata AutoComp said,
"We are conscious of our obligations to the environment and
are committed to do our best to reduce the damage to our planet.
We have, as part of our Mission Statement, taken upon ourselves
the responsibility to create a Carbon Neutral Footprint. Events
like tree plantation, energy conservation and enhancing machine
efficiency are part of Tata AutoComp's strategy to fulfil this mission."
As a step towards energy conservation, Tata
AutoComp has ensured that the company maximises utilisation of daylight,
by changing its flexible office timings from 9:00 am- 7:30 pm to
8:00 am – 6:00 pm. In addition to this, air conditioners at
Tata AutoComp are operated only between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm, thus
reducing 4 hours on power consumption daily. The trees which are
being planted by the employees will be nurtured by each of them
individually. Tata AutoComp employees in their own individual capacity
are living and implementing the company mission of environment protection
by going green in their daily routine- Using recycled paper for
print outs, making use of both sides of paper, car pooling and utilising
recycled bottles for storage of drinking water at their workstations.
